LegalMark summary published on 11 October 2026.

The news.

According to data published by EUIPO on 7 July 2026, EU trade mark applications in the first half reach 104,263, with an increase of 8.4% compared to the same period of 2025. A total of 166,214 EU trademarks and design applications. The press release also recorded an increase of 11.8% of the trade mark applications from Italy.

LegalMark's reading.

For those who prepare a new trademark, the data is a point to organize for time the verifications on the sign and on the markets. The decision to deposit must follow products, services and objectives of the enterprise; the aggregate growth of the applications does not determine the registrability of a single trademark.

Questions to be brought to the company.

  • Has the sign been assessed against the prior rights?
  • Products and services reflect the business plan?
  • Is the territorial choice consistent with the expected development?
